Budget Airline Breeze Airways Announces Expansion Across the U.S.

Breeze Airways, which describes itself as “Seriously Nice,” is significantly expanding its flight routes across the United States, bringing low-cost travel options to a wider range of cities. The airline announced new routes from Raleigh-Durham, Hartford, Columbus, Atlantic City, Charleston, Memphis, Louisville, Los Angeles, Madison, Pittsburgh and Greenville-Spartanburg.

The expansion includes a return to San Antonio, Texas, after a four-year absence, with service resuming on May 15. Tickets for the Brownsville to Orlando route, starting as low as $79 one-way as part of a promotion that concluded on February 3, are already available for purchase. City leaders in Brownsville expressed excitement about the new service, noting it will be the 84th destination added to Breeze’s network.

Beyond domestic expansion, Breeze Airways is also growing its international presence, adding Nassau, Bahamas, as its fourth international destination. The airline currently serves Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.

The airline is also seeing growth in Florida, with the addition of four new routes within the state, including service to Fort Lauderdale, Tampa, and Orlando. Breeze Airways also recently hit a milestone in Vero Beach, Florida, though specific details of that milestone were not provided.

The expansion comes as travelers continue to seek affordable flight options. According to a recent report from NerdWallet, while flight prices have generally decreased over the past decade, they still feel high to many consumers. The report highlights the practice of “unbundling” by airlines, where base fares are advertised low but additional fees are charged for services like checked baggage and seat selection.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported that nearly 66 million passengers passed through TSA checkpoints in January of this year. The average domestic round-trip price for the first quarter of 2025 was $397, a decrease of approximately 1.2% from the fourth quarter of 2024.

Breeze Airways, founded by David Neeleman, began service in May 2021 with a fleet of Airbus A220-300 and Embraer 190 aircraft. Neeleman stated, “Breeze’s convenient, direct service to underserved destinations continues to resonate with travelers and we’re eager to introduce Brownsville and Atlantic City to our unique, elevated product offering.” He also expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming summer travel season.

South Carolina has also joined Texas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Florida in experiencing a tourism boom as a result of Breeze Airways’ expanded routes.
