Sustainable corporate mobility remains a central theme in bremen. The Bremen Mobility Network will continue beyond its current three-year funding period and will be open to all companies in the state of Bremen. Moving forward, two network meetings will be held annually, open to all interested parties, with free participation.
Keynote from Senator for Environment, Climate and Science
Kathrin Moosdorf, Senator for Environment, climate and Science, attended the network’s closing meeting on Wednesday, march 19, 2025. She emphasized the benefits of eco-friendly transportation, stating, “Klimaschonende Antriebe sind gut für unsere Städte.Die Luft ist sauberer, es gibt weniger Lärm und natürlich stoßen die Fahrzeuge damit kein klimaschädliches CO2 aus. Die Verkehrswende ist also ein Gewinn aus vielen Perspektiven” (“Climate-friendly drives are good for our cities. The air is cleaner, there is less noise and of course the vehicles do not emit climate-damaging CO2.The transport transition is therefore a win from many perspectives”).
Moosdorf also expressed her enthusiasm for the public companies’ contributions to the mobility network, noting that they “Impulse setzen und kreative Lösungen entwickelt haben” (“have provided impetus and developed creative solutions”).She added,”Ich wünsche mir, dass sich viele private Unternehmen nun in das Netzwerk einklinken und von den bereits gesammelten erfahrungen profitieren” (“I would like to see many private companies now join the network and benefit from the experience already gained”).
Network Achievements and Future Plans
Since 2022, eleven Bremen-based companies in the Bremen Mobility Network have been intensively involved in how corporate mobility can be designed sustainably. They have dealt with mobility offers such as the Deutschlandticket or company bicycle leasing, analyzed their traffic and exchanged ideas with experts on the expansion of the charging infrastructure and e-mobility. Their findings and experiences are now summarized in the brochure “Klimaschonend unterwegs” (“Climate-friendly on the move”), which was presented at the closing event.
while federal funding from the National Climate Protection Initiative and financial support from the Senator for Environment, Climate and Science will end in March, the Bremen Climate Protection Agency Energiekonsens will take over the financing, ensuring the network’s continuation. This commitment underscores the importance of sustainable mobility in the region.
Energiekonsens to Sustain Network
Martin Grocholl, Managing Director of Energiekonsens, highlighted the value of continuous exchange among companies: “Ein kontinuierlicher Austausch ist ein wertvoller Mehrwert für Unternehmen, um voneinander zu lernen” (“A continuous exchange is a valuable added value for companies to learn from each other”). All companies face the same challenge of making their processes and mobility efficient and sustainable in order to reduce emissions.By continuing and expanding the mobility network,we want to consolidate the climate protection know-how that has been created and spread it widely”).
