The manager of the Hôtel du Crouesty in Arzon, Brittany, has canceled an art exhibition by painter Bruno Chauvierre after discovering the artist is a former elected official for the Front National (FN).
Chauvierre had arranged to display his monumental canvases at the hotel venue, but the agreement was terminated abruptly once the manager learned of the artist’s ties to the FN—the far-right party now known as the Rassemblement National.
The hotel manager justified the move to La Dépêche with a simple premise: "An artist, it must not be too mixed with politics."
Monumental canvases move to Sarzeau
The exhibition did not vanish. According to Ouest-France, Chauvierre’s work rebounded quickly in the nearby town of Sarzeau, where the paintings found a new venue for public viewing.
