China Secures Bronze Medal

On the 30th local time, the 2024 FIBA 3×3 U18 World Cup came to an end in Debrecen, Hungary. The Chinese 3×3 U18 women’s team defeated the German team to win the third place, setting a new record since the Chinese team sent a team to participate in the event in 2011.

The U18 World Cup group stage adopts a single round-robin system. Each team plays a single round-robin match with the other four opponents in the same group. The top two teams in the group advance to the quarter-finals.

Team Performance

The Chinese women’s team, composed of Chen Yanping, Li Yuwei, Liu Xiaohan and Wang Jiaxin, was in the same group as Kyrgyzstan, India, Japan and Uganda. The Chinese team defeated Kyrgyzstan and India by a large margin in the group stage, but lost to Japan in the battle for the top spot in the group, and Uganda withdrew from the competition.

In the knockout stage, the Chinese team, ranked second in Group C, overcame the opponent’s strong opponent and maintained the lead throughout the game with its outstanding offensive ability. They defeated the Ukrainian team, ranked first in Group A, 20:16 and advanced to the semi-finals.

Bronze Medal Match

In the semi-finals, the Chinese team lost to the stronger American team 8:21. After a two-hour break, Wang Jiaxin played well in the bronze medal match, hitting 5 long shots and leading the Chinese team to beat the German team 21:17 and won the third place.

The US team won both the men’s and women’s championships in this year’s U18 3×3 Basketball World Cup.
