Understanding the Link Between Our Environment and Cancer Risk

Are everyday environmental factors contributing to cancer rates? The Ligue against Bas-Rhin cancer,in partnership with DNA,is hosting a series of conferences titled “Cancer and You” to explore this critical question. These informative sessions aim to empower individuals with knowledge about cancer prevention and risk reduction.

Following a prosperous presentation in Strasbourg this past April, Francelyne marano, a ⁤leading expert in cell biology and toxicology at paris Cité University and also the vice-president of the National League‍ against Cancer, will return to ⁢Alsace to ‍present at La Broque. Focus on Environmental Pollution and Radon Exposure

Marano’s previous conference in the spring centered on the broader topic ⁣of cancer and environmental pollution, with a strong emphasis on preventative⁢ measures. A key area of⁤ discussion will be the dangers ⁤of⁣ radon exposure and the well-established link between tobacco use and cancer.

Radon Awareness: Radon is a naturally occurring, radioactive gas that can seep into homes from the ground. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), it’s the second leading cause of lung cancer in the united States, responsible for an estimated 21,000 deaths each year.
