The U.S. CNN broadcast reported that the work of AI robot ‘Ai-Da’ developed by British gallery operator Aidan Mellor will be auctioned at Sotheby’s at the end of this month. Aida, a robot that operates using AI algorithms, is a robot with the face of a human woman with big eyes and a brown wig, and is equipped with camera eyes and bionic hands. The drawing is done using a camera mounted on the eye and a robotic arm.
‘God of AI.’ Portrait of Alan Turing·2024
The title of the work is ‘God of AI.’ ‘Portrait of Alan Turing’ (AI God. Portrait of Alan Turing·2024). It depicts Alan Turing, a genius British mathematician who is also called the father of computers or the father of AI. This work was previously exhibited at the ‘AI for Good Global Summit 2024’ held in Geneva, Switzerland. It is expected to be auctioned for between $120,000 (about 170 million won) and $180,000 (about 250 million won).
Ida told CNN that the core value of her work is “its ability to serve as a conversation about emerging technologies.”
Mellor said the portrait’s “protagonist, Alan Turing, has been stoking fears about the power of AI since the early 1950s by cracking World War II codes,” and that this work “raises the question of where the power of AI will lead us.” “It’s a throwing piece,” he said.
As for Aida’s work, Mellor said he plans to reinvest some of the proceeds into the Aida project.
