Kinsella Bishop’s late Strike Seals Dramatic Win for Bray wanderers
Bray Wanderers have secured a dramatic late victory over Dundalk, with Danu Kinsella Bishop netting in the fourth minute of injury time to seal a 1-0 win at the Carlisle Grounds. The result sees Dundalk’s promotion hopes dealt a significant blow, while Bray continue to climb the SSE Airtricity Men’s first Division table.
Late Drama Decides Tense Encounter
The crucial moment arrived when Billy O’Neill proved the gamebreaker, forcing a foul from Dundalk’s Sean Keogh.Referee Declan Toland pointed to the spot, and Paul Murphy calmly dispatched the penalty, sending Enda Minogue the wrong way to give Bray the lead.
Dundalk, who had been second-best for much of the second half, pushed hard for an equalizer. The Lilywhites created a succession of chances after the break, but Bray’s goalkeeper Jimmy Corcoran was in imperious form, denying them at every turn. Corcoran produced a string of superb saves, touching a header from Dean Ebbe onto the post early on, before Paul Murphy blocked Ireland international Daryl Horgan’s follow-up. The experienced stopper then stooped smartly to deny Martin McHale’s header from a corner and again got low to turn Ebbe’s header wide.
Despite Dundalk’s pressure, with Eoin Kenny, Andy Paraschiv, and substitute Declan McDaid all guilty of wasting opportunities as the visitors turned the screw, they couldn’t find the vital finish. And it was Kinsella Bishop who made them pay in the dying moments, rounding Minogue and slotting home from a wide angle to secure all three points for the home side.
