(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim A-ram = Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visited the Korea Federation of Trade Unions hall in Yeouido, Seoul on the 10th and had lunch with Kim Dong-myeong , Federation Chairman Korean Trade Unions.
At an event they both attended early this year, Chairman Kim proposed a meeting, and Chairman Choi responded in the interests of communication between labor and management representative organizations, and the lunch was held.
The Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Korean Federation of Trade Unions agreed that labor and management should work together to find solutions to the difficult problems facing Korean society, such as the climate crisis, industrial transition, low birth rate , and aging.
The two organizations have continued to interact since a representative meeting in September 2017.
Chairman Choi and Chairman Kim also met several times after Chairman Kim attended the inauguration ceremony of the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2021.
In his greeting, Chairman Choi said, “In the previous framework, the three elements of production were labor, capital, and land, but now, instead of physical labor, labor can be significantly emphasized as brain labor, which means using head one”
He added, “If we do not achieve innovation beyond labour, the past framework of distinguishing between labour, capital and land will no longer have a significant impact on production possibilities.”
At the same time, he stressed, “We need a new framework that can create innovations between labor and management together, and proposals that can move the social system innovatively. In order to achieve this, we need to put our heads to it together for a long time and come up with good proposals.”
Chairman Kim also said, “I believe that the uncertainty felt by companies and the anxiety felt by employees are no different in the face of huge changes in Korean society,” and added, “It is a prerequisite for employees and companies joining and pooling their wisdom to adapt to changes and overcome crises.”
