The murder occurred on the morning of Friday, February⁤ 28.Jatnika had initially come to⁢ Widodo’s house seeking temporary lodging, beginning February 17, 2025. He ​carefully watched Widodo, learning his routines, including how he ​opened the front ‍door.

Each day during his stay, Jatnika made sure ​to return to the⁢ house⁤ early, while Widodo consistently arrived late, often around 11:00 PM.

On Thursday, February 27, around 11:00 PM, Jatnika awoke‌ to find Widodo already asleep on a mat in the living⁣ room. ⁢The next morning,Friday,February ‍28,at approximately 5:30 AM,Jatnika saw Widodo still ‌asleep. It‍ was⁤ then that he decided to⁢ steal‌ Widodo’s belongings.

Jatnika went to the kitchen, found a wooden beam, and struck Widodo’s head six times. After confirming ​Widodo was dead, Jatnika moved​ the⁤ body to the back of the house, covering it with‍ a mat and a kapok mattress.

Following the murder, Jatnika‍ fled, ‍taking Widodo’s phone, bag, and motorcycle. He discarded the ‌phone along the way to‍ cover his ‍tracks, while using the motorcycle for his work as a‍ security guard.

Aftermath:⁣ Stolen‌ Motorcycle​ Used for Work

Police investigations revealed that Jatnika attempted to cover his tracks after killing ​Widodo. He disposed of the victim’s phone in a⁣ river.

According to Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, ‌a police spokesperson, “Dalam perjalanan pulang, handphone, tas milik korban dibuang​ ke sungai di ‌daerah Kelurahan Aren Jaya untuk menghilangkan barang bukti,” or on the way home, the victim’s phone and bag were thrown into the river in the Aren Jaya area to destroy evidence.

Jatnika then​ used the stolen motorcycle to commute to his job as a security guard in East Jakarta.
