Burkina/Public School of Journalism: Elders share their experiences with juniors

Ouagadougou, Jan. 19, 2023 (AIB)- Alumni of the Institute of Information and Communication Sciences and Techniques (ISTIC) called this Thursday, during a sharing of experiences, their little brothers to fight with passion to achieve their dreams in their future profession.

“It is a very good initiative to organize meetings of this kind between old and young learners because learning is not only in the school and academic framework” affirmed one of the panelists, the director general (DG) of the Higher Institute of Image and Sound (ISIS), Bangbi Francis Frédéric Kaboré.

According to the latter, “we also learn in life, by rubbing shoulders with elders, with all those who are and who are not in the profession”.

Mr. Kaboré indicated that “their little brothers must fight with passion for the realization of their dreams”.

The DG of ISIS spoke Thursday in Ouagadougou, at the premises of ISTIC, during a conference to share experiences with students from the public school of journalism.

Listening to him, the meeting was a great opportunity to discover the students and let them know that the will to learn is the compass that should guide them.

“We may not say everything in one meeting, but the little we have been able to say will certainly help your professional and social development and make you young people on whom the country can count”, he addressed the students.

In these discussions, Bangbi Francis Frédéric Kaboré was assisted by the founder of the online newspaper Le Faso.net, Dr Cyriaque Paré and the CEO of the media and the Agis group, Alain Dablougou.

The two communicators, Dr. Cyriaque Paré and Alain Dablougou dwelt on their professional career and their experiences in their respective professions.

They urged, among other things, the ISTIC students to always remain professional in their future profession, not to run behind the positions, to question themselves in order to be able to progress, to get rid of the okra in the field.

The two panelists also invited their cadets to take ownership of digital technology by creating blogs and others to create opportunities in life.

“Work, reading and experience will allow you to achieve your intended goals,” they continued.

To the question of a student on the web activist nowadays, Dr Paré made it known that the journalist is not in competition with this one and that on the contrary, he must serve as a partner to facilitate his work by information groupings.

The general delegate of ISTIC, Lambert Soma underlined that most of the students of ISTIC are new and that they do not have the necessary tools to face the field.

According to Mr. Soma, this experience-sharing meeting with experienced people in the fields of journalism, communication and technology will allow students to be better equipped for their future profession.

“These exchanges with the elders will allow them to understand the issues in the field when they go into the field,” he said.
