Burnley Football Club terminated its front-of-shirt sponsorship agreement with Finotive One on August 14, 2026, just 42 days after signing the deal and two days before their opening Championship fixture against West Ham. According to club statements reported by The Athletic, the retail trading provider’s partnership ended after less than two months on a one-year contract that was originally announced on July 3.
Burnley acted quickly to replace the brand, announcing that Vertu Motors will step in as the new front-of-shirt and training wear partner. The move resurrects an existing relationship between the club and the automotive retailer, which previously sponsored the team during their 2022-23 Championship promotion campaign. Vertu currently ranks as the fourth-largest automotive retailer in the UK.
Club officials addressed the abrupt switch in a public statement. Burnley Football Club is disappointed to confirm that its agreement with Finotive has been terminated,
the club stated, as reported by The Athletic. We have acted decisively to protect the Club’s interests, and those of our supporters, while ensuring preparations for the new season continue uninterrupted, both on and off the pitch.
Supporter Options and Ticketing Adjustments
The sudden sponsor change left supporters who had already purchased replica kits featuring the Finotive One branding with immediate logistical issues. According to The Athletic, Burnley established three distinct options for affected fans. Supporters can request a complete refund, exchange their current jersey for a newly printed Vertu-branded shirt, or bring their existing shirt back to have the new Vertu branding applied directly. Two weeks prior to the sponsor termination, the club revealed their new away shirt for the campaign, featuring a design process led by minority owner and former NFL star JJ Watt, as noted by The Athletic.

Deepening Community Ties With Vertu Motors
The incoming sponsor is already a familiar entity around East Lancashire. Over the past four years, Vertu and Burnley have collaborated on various community initiatives, including the company’s annual Festive Food Drive held at Turf Moor, according to reporting by The Athletic. Burnley welcomes West Ham to Turf Moor for their opening Championship fixture on August 16, 2026, stepping onto the pitch with a familiar corporate partner emblazoned across their chests.
