The municipal education bureau announced on the 19th that a total of 21,088 elementary school students have expressed their intention to participate in Neulbom school, which will start in March. The municipal education bureau conducted a demand survey among elementary school students and prospective first-year elementary school students in Busan from the 30th of last month to February 7th.

Of the 21,088 people who wanted to participate, 20,140, ​​or 95.5%, applied for the neulbom Class (assistance) school assistance and the neulbom (after-school) learning type, while 4.5%, or 948, they applied for activities at local neulbom assistance organizations.

Among prospective first-year students entering elementary school this year, 56.5%, more than half of the total quota, expressed their intention to attend Neulbom School. Of the 20,637 students who will turn 1 this year, 11,670 will attend Neulbom School. △8,634 people (41.8%) of the neulbom treatment type and △3,036 people (14.7%) of the neulbom learning type participate.

To accommodate all first-year elementary school students who wish to attend Neulbom School, the city education office has secured a total of 906 spaces dedicated to Neulbom School, including 897 rooms within the school and 9 rooms connected to the region. The municipal education office provides assistance to pupils from first to third grade, as well as the Neulbom program, which includes learning through reading, play and sports activities. In particular, 2 hours of Neulbom study-type program are provided free of charge to first graders every day.

The city’s board of education anticipates that Neulbom School will be effective in reducing the cost of private education by providing students with diverse and unique educational opportunities.

Busan Metropolitan Education Bureau Superintendent Ha Yoon-soo said: “In a situation where the region is at risk of extinction, we will operate Neulbom School substantially so that Busan children can grow up and stay in Busan, and we will spare no effort in providing support so that not a single child is missing.”
