(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Hwang Jae-ha = The new romantic comedy drama ‘Seon-jae and Jump’ starring Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon started with a viewership rating of around 3%.
According to Nielsen Korea on the 9th, the viewership rating of ‘Seonjae and Jump’, which was aired by tvN at 8:50 PM the previous day, was 3.1%. The viewership rating for the first episode of ‘Wedding Impossible’, which aired at the same time until last week, was slightly lower than the 4.0%.
The first broadcast dealt with the death of popular band member Ryu Seon-jae (Byun Woo-seok) and his fan Lim Sol (Kim Hye-yoon) going back 15 years to when Seon-jae was still alive.

In 2009, Sol suffered a serious accident and became pessimistic about his situation, which left him unable to walk. Then, Sol happens to receive a call from Seon-jae, who is appearing on a live radio broadcast, and is comforted by Seon-jae’s words, “Thank you for being alive.”
As time goes by, Sol becomes Seon-jae’s biggest fan. On New Year’s Day, 2023, after seeing the news that Seon-jae collapsed early in the morning, Sol goes to the hospital where Seon-jae is in a wheelchair and drops his beloved watch in a stream.
The moment Sol gets out of the wheelchair, crawls, and barely manages to retrieve his watch, a news bulletin board appears in the distance saying that Seon-jae has passed away. Sol cries over her sorrow, and then she returns to June 2008 and comes to her senses.
When Sol realizes that he is still a high school student and before his accident, he meets Seon-jae, who attends a neighboring school, and cries with joy. However, Sol cannot accept her reality, thinking she is either dreaming or in the underworld.
The first broadcast of ‘Seonjae and Jump’ attracted attention with special appearances by former national swimming team member Park Tae-hwan, Girls’ Generation Yuri, KARA’s Han Seung-yeon, and comedian Lee Su-ji. In addition, the fresh sensibility unique to youth films was captured in bright colors.
However, as the subject of time slip (time travel) has been commonly used in recent dramas, attention is being paid to whether it will be able to shake off the sense of déjà vu and provide fresh fun.
