INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark made a triumphant return from a left quad injury, scoring 32 points and leading the Indiana Fever to a 102-88 victory over the New York Liberty on Saturday. The win, in front of a sellout crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, marked the Liberty’s first loss of the season.
Clark, who missed five games due to the injury, also contributed nine assists and eight rebounds. Her performance accounted for 54 of the Fever’s points.
the Fever’s offense was potent, especially in the first quarter when they shot 71% from the field. Clark fueled the team with three consecutive 3-pointers in the first quarter, electrifying the crowd. She finished the game with seven 3-pointers.
“I saw three in a row go in, so that gives you a lot of confidence,” Clark said.
Indiana coach Stephanie White acknowledged Clark’s impact. “Don’t we always expect that kind of game from Caitlin? Her decision-making was outstanding; she did a really good job of getting everybody involved, and that’s what she does.”
