A London-based startup has⁣ unveiled ⁢a self-cooling⁣ beverage can, potentially revolutionizing how drinks are chilled.

March 28, 2025

Jakarta – Advances in technology are constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. One such innovation‍ is a‍ self-cooling beverage can, ⁣potentially reducing the need ‍for refrigeration.

Delta H Innovations, a startup based in London, has announced its development of an⁢ aluminum can with self-cooling technology.

The “Cool ‍Can” can reduce the temperature of its contents to between⁣ 6 and 7 degrees⁣ Celsius (approximately 43 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit) and maintain that temperature for up to 45 minutes, according to reports.

The Cool Can resembles a standard aluminum can but features⁣ a “power” button at the bottom. This bottom section contains a hidden water reservoir.

When the power button is activated, the water is released ⁤into ⁤a chamber between the can’s inner and outer layers. This chamber contains embedded salt. the reaction between the water and salt rapidly cools ⁤the beverage.

According to Delta H Innovations, the cooling process takes about 10 minutes to reach the target temperature. Ambient temperature⁣ can also affect the ‍cooling process.

the Cool Can also features a visual indicator: a snowflake symbol that changes from white to blue when the drink reaches a sufficiently low temperature.

One ‍reporter had the chance to test the Cool Can, reporting that it performed as advertised.

the reporter noted that after pressing the ⁤power button and ⁢inverting the can to mix the water and salt, the can quickly became cold to the touch and condensation formed on the ‍exterior. The reporter confirmed the drink was cold, although the exact temperature was not measured.

Delta H Innovations is currently seeking a patent for the Cool Can. The company has reportedly been in discussions with major beverage companies like Coca-Cola and Red Bull about potentially integrating this ‍technology into ‍their packaging.

The‍ company believes the product will⁣ be triumphant despite initial higher costs, ‍arguing that the Cool Can could ultimately reduce cooling expenses.

The Cool Can is recyclable and suitable for use in various settings. However, the ⁣500-milliliter can ⁣holds approximately 70% of the volume of a standard can of the ⁤same ‍size.

While a specific ‍launch date is not yet available,Delta H Innovations hopes to have units available for testing at summer music festivals.

Self-Cooling cans: Revolutionizing beverage Chilling?

In a world constantly seeking innovation, the technology of ⁢self-cooling beverage cans has emerged, promising to transform how we enjoy‍ cold drinks. This article dives into the details of this exciting advancement.

What is a Self-Cooling Can?

A self-cooling can is an innovative beverage container designed to cool its contents without ⁣external refrigeration. This technology, as seen in the “Cool Can” developed by Delta H Innovations, offers‍ on-demand chilling for ultimate convenience.

How Does a Self-Cooling Can Work?

The Cool Can⁢ operates through a simple yet effective mechanism. Here’s a breakdown:

  • activation: The can features a “power” button located at the ⁣bottom.
  • Water Release: Pressing the button releases water from a hidden reservoir.
  • Cooling Reaction: The⁣ water mixes with embedded salt in a chamber ⁢between the can’s inner ⁢and outer layers. The reaction between ⁣the ‍water and‍ salt rapidly cools the beverage inside.
  • visual Indicator A snowflake symbol turns from white to blue to show when the drink is cool enough.

How⁢ Quickly Does a Self-Cooling Can Cool a⁢ Drink?

According to Delta H Innovations, the⁤ cooling process takes approximately ⁣10 minutes to reach the target temperature. The ambient temperature can also affect the cooling rate.

How Cold Does a Self-Cooling Can Get?

The Cool Can aims to chill beverages to between 6 and 7 degrees Celsius (approximately 43 to 45 degrees Fahrenheit).

How Long Does a Self-Cooling Can Maintain Its Temperature?

The Cool Can can maintain the chilled temperature for up to 45 minutes after ⁢cooling.

What Are the Potential benefits of Self-Cooling Cans?

Self-cooling⁣ cans could provide numerous benefits:

  • Convenience: Enjoy a cold drink anywhere, anytime, without needing a refrigerator.
  • cost ⁤Reduction (Potentially): ‍Reduce expenses associated with cooling‍ and refrigeration.
  • Versatility: Suitable for various settings, from outdoor events‍ to everyday use.

What Are ‍the Limitations of Self-Cooling Cans?

While promising, self-cooling cans have a few limitations:

  • Volume: The 500-milliliter Cool Can ⁣holds approximately 70% of the ‍volume of a standard can of the same size.
  • Cost: Initial costs might potentially be higher compared to conventional cans.

Are Self-Cooling Cans Eco-Friendly?

The Cool Can is designed to be recyclable, promoting environmental sustainability.

Where is‍ this technology ⁤being developed?

Delta H Innovations, a London-based startup, is the company behind the Cool ‍Can.

When Will Self-Cooling Cans Be Available?

While a specific launch date is ⁤not yet available, Delta H Innovations‍ hopes to have units available for testing at summer music festivals.

Will Major Beverage Companies Adopt This Technology?

Delta H ⁣Innovations is in⁣ discussions with major beverage companies like Coca-Cola and Red Bull about integrating this⁣ technology into their packaging.

Self-Cooling Can vs. Conventional Can: A Comparison

Here’s a quick comparison of the self-cooling can against a traditional can:

Feature self-Cooling Can (Cool Can) Traditional Can
Cooling Mechanism Water and Salt Reaction Requires External Refrigeration
cooling time Approximately 10 minutes Varies, Requires refrigeration for longer time.
Temperature 6-7°C (43-45°F) Dependent on refrigerant
Temperature⁣ Retention Up to 45 minutes Dependent⁤ on environment after removing from fridge.
Recyclable Yes Yes
Volume Around 70% of ⁢standard can 100%

Self-cooling can technology‍ represents a significant step⁤ forward ⁣in beverage packaging, offering ⁢a compelling blend of convenience and innovation. As the technology matures, it holds the potential to reshape how we enjoy cold drinks in the future.
