Caoimhe Walsh has won her first junior international call-up for Northern Ireland following a series of strong performances. The 12-year-old gymnast from Shooting Starz Gymnastics Club in Campsie is set to travel to Greece in November to compete in the Horizon Cup. She will face competitors from across Europe in the international artistic gymnastics tournament.
Training in Tennessee and Florida Success
Before heading to Europe, Walsh will travel to Tennessee in the United States to participate in the National NGA training camp. She earned her place at the American camp through exceptional results at the NGA National Championships held earlier this year in Florida. The Year 9 Thornhill College student has trained up to 20 hours per week across five days as part of the Shooting Starz Elite Development programme.
All of us at Shooting Starz are absolutely delighted for Caoimhe. She works extremely hard and trains up to 20 hours per week over the five days. It will be fantastic for her to take part in the training camp in the United States before returning home for a couple of days and then she heads off to Europe where the destination is Thessaloniki in Greece and representing her country.

Representing Northern Ireland in Thessaloniki
Walsh is one of five gymnasts scheduled to travel to Greece to represent Northern Ireland. She plans to compete across all four core artistic disciplines: vault, bars, beam, and floor exercises. Her mother, Katie Walsh, noted that the selection serves as recognition for consistent performances within her peer group.

It will be a great opportunity for her and it’s a chance to gain valuable experience on the international stage in preparation for aiming even higher over the next few years. It’s a fitting reward for her consistent performances in her year group and a result of hard work in training.
