Captain Thammanat denies ‘Phua Thai-Pracharat’ alliance and explains the failed prime minister candidacy

No Agreement between Phua Thai and Pracharat Parties

Captain Thammanat Denies Collaboration for a Battle

In a recent interview, Captain Thammanat Phromphao, the coordinating chairman of the Palang Pracharat Party (PPP) and MPs of Phayao, confirmed that there is no agreement or collaboration between the Phua Thai and Pracharat Parties to establish a battle. He further stated that Pitha Lim Chareonrat, who failed to secure the nomination for the prime minister’s second round, has lost the right to contest.

On 17 July, Captain Thammanat shed light on the party’s approach, clarifying that the PPP did not cast a vote for the Prime Minister’s second round on 19 July due to the absence of a voting process that day. He explained that the Kao Klai Party’s (Kor Kor.) nomination of Mr. Phitha Lim Chareonrat for the prime minister’s candidacy would not be valid as per the regulations of the parliamentary session. According to these regulations, any proposal put forward in the House of Representatives requires at least 1 vote from every 10 MPs. Since the proposal was dropped and cannot be resubmitted, there was no vote on 19 July. Captain Thammanat emphasized that in such a scenario, the president of the council will make a new appointment.

During the interview, Captain Thammanat was questioned about the Thai Pheu Party’s (Public Organisation) purported plan to join forces with the PPP to form a new government. He dismissed these claims, stating that no contact has been made and no discussions about the content of a potential coalition government have taken place. He emphasized that the PPP has always maintained its stance of not forming a minority government.
