Tennis legend Stanislas Wawrinka is retiring from professional competition at age 41, prompting a farewell exhibition match in Geneva on December 19 organized in part by Chilean businessman Carlos Cuevas, ADN Radio reported.

Stanislas Wawrinka announced his retirement from professional tennis after capturing three Grand Slam titles during his career: the Australian Open in 2014, Roland Garros in 2015, and the US Open in 2016. His official farewell event is scheduled for December 19 in Geneva, Switzerland. Initial ticket sales for the exhibition sold out within three hours, though organizers arranged a remaining ticket release for October 30, according to ADN Radio and radarinformativo.cl.
The farewell itinerary features a singles match against French player Gael Monfils. Following the singles encounter, Wawrinka will team up with fellow legends Andy Murray and Roger Federer for a doubles match.

Carlos Cuevas Manages the Farewell Event Operations
Carlos Cuevas serves as the general manager for Wawrinka’s farewell event, overseeing operations alongside directors Yannick Fattebert and Benjamin Dracos. Cuevas is a commercial engineer graduated from the Universidad Católica who previously played junior and future professional tournaments. After working in the corporate sector in Chile and participating in sports foundations, Cuevas relocated to Europe to complete a sports business master’s degree through the International Olympic Committee. Through networking during his studies, he connected with Sport Spirit, whose co-owner Yannick Fattebert coached Wawrinka for seven years.

According to Carlos Cuevas in interviews with ADN Deportes, Wawrinka takes an extremely active role in the daily planning of the event, holding weekly and daily meetings with the organizing team to handle major decisions as well as minor details.
Wawrinka Faces Monfils Before Doubles with Federer and Murray
The farewell event takes place on December 19 in Geneva. While the primary ticket allocation sold out in three hours, organizers scheduled a ticket remanent release for October 30. The exhibition features Wawrinka facing Gael Monfils in singles competition, followed by a doubles appearance alongside Roger Federer and Andy Murray. The collaboration between Wawrinka and the Sport Spirit management team aims to deliver a world-class exhibition for Swiss tennis fans celebrating the three-time Grand Slam champion’s career.
