Apple CarPlay to Support AirPlay Video Streaming in iOS 26

Apple is set to introduce AirPlay video support to CarPlay with the upcoming iOS 26 update. This enhancement will enable users to stream video from their iPhones to their vehicle’s center display while the car is parked, expanding in-car entertainment options.
The capability, highlighted on Apple’s developer site, requires automakers to integrate CarPlay with AirPlay video. Apple is encouraging automakers and developers to join its MFi Program to support this and othre features like CarPlay Ultra and car keys.
Adoption may be gradual, as automakers tend to be cautious about technologies that could distract drivers. Assurances that video playback is restricted to when the vehicle is stationary are likely a key consideration.
