Domestic Manufacturing Launch in India
The rollout follows an announcement made in September 2023 to begin domestic production, aligning the Japanese electronics maker’s supply chain strategies with the national “Make in India” campaign.
Takuto Kimura, managing director of Casio India, stated that the company sees immense potential for growth in the country. By shifting some production domestically, the subsidiary aims to design and deliver items tailored to Indian consumer preferences and lifestyles.
Expanding the Production Scope
Casio introduced its initial batch of locally produced timepieces through a third-party manufacturer, starting sales at the end of July 2025 before the formal August announcement. While initial reports noted three models, subsequent industry sources indicate that Casio is manufacturing 28 specially curated watch models. These designs target diverse consumer segments ranging from fashion-forward youth to professionals seeking functional elegance.
The locally manufactured lineup incorporates features suited to the local climate, including water resistance and durable build quality.
Navigating the Competitive Landscape
Casio entered the Indian market in 1996, offering a diverse product portfolio that includes electronic musical instruments and calculators alongside timepieces. The current local manufacturing push positions the brand to capture a larger share of India’s growing watch market, which features a rising young demographic.

Festive Season Retail Campaigns
Industry observers note that the localized approach aids Casio in competing more effectively against both global competitors and established domestic brands such as Titan and Fastrack. The company has scheduled aggressive promotional campaigns ahead of the festive season—a traditional peak sales period in India—utilizing e-commerce platforms and exclusive retail stores to highlight the new “Made in India” inventory.
