Cavececo describes the return of foreign brands as positive

Claudia Itriago, executive director of the Venezuelan Chamber of Shopping Centers (Cavececo), described the return of the Zara brand to the Sambil shopping center in Chacao as favorable for the sector.

“It is positive because it implies the return of international brands and improvements in the offer for visitors to shopping centers,” he stated.

He announced that he is in talks with other investors.

“We have spoken with representatives of some Colombian brands who want to know about the Venezuelan market, it is a matter of trust and investment in the country,” he said.

However, he maintained in a radio interview that the reactivation of shopping centers has been slower than last year after Carnival, a season very close to December, and the level of visits of 2023 has not yet been reached in the same period.

“If we compare the data with the same months last year, we are, at least, 10% or 15% below the number of visitors on a national scale.”

He indicated that in some shopping centers visits remained the same, in some it fell 10% and in others it has risen 5%, “but in general terms we have had a slow reactivation this year.”

Itriago mentioned that after the pandemic, entertainment has diversified towards video games and technology.
