Ceasefire on the Horizon: Blinken Reveals Breakthrough in Lebanon Peace Talks
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken Reports Progress in Lebanon Ceasefire Talks
United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Thursday that significant progress has been made in reaching a ceasefire in Lebanon, based on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
“We are working very hard and moving forward to reach an understanding of what would be required to implement Security Council Resolution 1701 effectively,” Blinken told reporters in Washington.
According to Blinken, the parties involved have made “good progress” on the agreements, but emphasized that “more work needs to be done” to achieve a diplomatic resolution, including a ceasefire.
Blinken also addressed the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, stating that “there has been progress, but not enough.” He stressed that allowing aid trucks into Gaza is crucial, but it is equally important that the aid is distributed “effectively” within the enclave.
