Kim ‍Kardashian has‌ joined a growing chorus ⁢of voices protesting ICE raids in Los Angeles. The ICE ‌raids, which began last week, have sparked widespread protests across the city,‌ a designated sanctuary for immigrants. The demonstrations follow actions by federal agents⁣ in downtown Los Angeles, leading to clashes where police used nonlethal munitions‍ against reporters. The situation escalated when President Trump activated the National Guard ⁢on June⁤ 7, a move reminiscent of President Johnson’s⁤ deployment during the Civil Rights Movement.

Kardashian‍ is among several celebrities using their platforms‍ to⁣ condemn the immigration enforcement actions and share resources. Ariana Madix, currently hosting Love Island U.S., has been ‍actively sharing information on how to respond to ICE agent sightings.‍ Wally Baram posted images of her 70-year-old ⁢mother’s injuries sustained from ⁢nonlethal rounds, while Trisha‍ Paytas addressed the⁣ violence against undocumented individuals on her podcast.

Kardashian, who previously engaged⁣ with Trump during his presidency,‍ addressed the justifications for the sweeps in a June 10⁣ Instagram Story.‍ “When we’re told that ICE exists to keep our ⁣country safe and remove violent criminals — great,” she stated. “But when we witness innocent,⁢ hardworking people‌ being ripped from ⁤their families⁣ in inhumane ways, we have to speak up.”

She added, “Growing‌ up in LA, I’ve ⁢seen how deeply immigrants are woven into the fabric of ⁢this city. They ⁢are our neighbors, friends, classmates, coworkers, and⁣ family… We can’t turn a blind ⁣eye when fear and injustice keep people from living their lives freely and safely. There HAS to ‌be a BETTER way.” Kardashian also shared‍ a video of Doechii’s speech at the BET Awards,‍ amplifying ⁤the message.

Jenna Ortega also voiced her concerns online, condemning injustices worldwide. “People in los Angeles are being torn away from their everyday lives & love… Innocent civilians in Iran are ⁤caught in the middle of warfare…⁣ Palestinian ‌cries are still being buried ‌in every day media..” She concluded, “To say this doesn’t concern you, or that it isn’t your problem, Is ‍a privilege under abuse.”

Sabrina Carpenter has encouraged her followers to donate to the National Immigration Law Center‍ via her Instagram stories, further amplifying support for immigrant rights.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the former California governor, criticized both Democrats and Republicans for the political gridlock leading to‍ the current situation. Speaking to variety,⁣ he stated, “This is the result of Democrats and Republicans not being able to come together in this immigration reform… so⁤ we know who is in this country and who is working here, who has‍ the temporary working permit, who has the permanent working permit.”

Gabriel Luna advocated for the abolition of ICE, calling it “a terrible waste ‍of resources.”

What’s next

As protests continue, the focus shifts to potential immigration reform and community support initiatives. the involvement of high-profile ⁢figures like Kardashian may bring increased attention to ⁤the issue, potentially ⁣influencing⁣ policy discussions.
