CEO Jun-seok Lee confronts placard violator… “If the publicity material is damaged, it will come even at dawn”

People’s Power Representative Lee Jun-seok met in Gwangju with the party who damaged the banners of the People’s Power candidates in the June local election.

On the morning of the 21st, CEO Lee confronted Mr. A, who was arrested by the police on charges of damaging a banner (violation of the Public Official Election Act) in Sinan-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju.

Person A is accused of damaging the banners of Gwangju Mayor Joo Gi-hwan and Buk-gu Assemblyman Candidate Kwak Seung-yong at the back gate of Chonnam National University in Buk-gu, Gwangju, on the 19th. Person A was an employee of a restaurant near the back gate of Chonnam National University, and it was revealed that he used a bicycle lock key to damage an election banner while riding his bicycle home after drinking alcohol.

Person A, who met Lee on the same day, explained, “I was going to take the parked bike, but (the banner) got in the way (it was damaged)” and “I did not know what it was.”

He continued, “(At the time) I was angry and I was drunk and angry,” he said.

To this, CEO Lee replied, “I will give you time, so I will think through it carefully, organize it and send it to you (via SNS), and I will judge it.” He emphasized, “(However) we try to listen to clarifications and help, but if the explanations do not match (objective facts), we have no choice but to take them seriously.”

CEO Lee visited Gwangju on the 20th and returned to repair the damaged banner, but when another banner damage incident occurred, he visited Gwangju again for restoration work.

CEO Lee, who had been working on the banner restoration for two days in a row, said, “The people’s power candidates come and repair the banner whenever it is damaged in order to show that it will not neglect its efforts toward Gwangju and Honam.” We will show our determination to continue to take on challenges for the citizens of Gwangju,” he said.

He added, “When it is determined that (the banner) was intentionally damaged during the election period, I will come and restore it even at dawn.”
