Change of team in the second Test; Akshar Patel replaces Kuldeep in team

Mohali: India make changes to their squad for the second Test against Sri Lanka. Left-arm spinner and batsman Akshar Patel was named in the middle order. Akshar is being tested to replace Kuldeep Yadav. He had been sidelined for a few days due to injury. The day and night match on the pink ball starts on Saturday the 12th.

Akshar was considered to replace Kuldeep, citing a technical problem with the growing number of left-handed players in the team. Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant, who are in good form, were replaced by left – handed Kuldeep. Akshar last played against Sri Lanka last December.

Jayant Yadav will be out if Akshar starts playing as Jadeja and Ashwin will continue. Among the pacers, Mohammad Siraj is a must in the team. India’s confidence is boosted by an outstanding victory in the first Test of the series. Once again, Jadeja became the first player to score more than 150 runs and take 9 wickets in the same match in a game changer role.
