BRISTOL, Tenn. – Chase Briscoe kept Stewart-Haas Racing’s championship hopes alive in their final season, punching his ticket to the Round of 12 with a gritty top-10 finish at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Briscoe’s No. 14 Rush Truck Centers Ford Mustang Dark Horse remained a fixture in the top-10 throughout the grueling Bass Pro Shops Night Race. While pit road speeding penalties for Ty Gibbs and Martin Truex Jr. aided his bid, Briscoe’s consistent performance was the key to his success. He crossed the finish line in eighth, while Gibbs and Truex finished 15th and 24th respectively.
The Mitchell, IN native remained unfazed by the points deficit he faced entering the race after a crash in the opening race of the Round of 16 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
“The only time I have had any concern the entire time is when I was sitting on the backstretch unbuckling after crashing out of Atlanta,” Briscoe admitted. “We were sitting there at the airport, and it literally just showed minus 21 and I took a screenshot of it, sent it to our team guys and I said doable and that’s all I said.”
Briscoe drew confidence from a similar situation in 2022.“I mean,we were 21 or 19 out the last time we came to Bristol for the Cup race (in 2022) we made about that,so I wasn’t really concerned at all being 21 out and I felt really confident about it. I don’t want to be 21 down to start any round, but I wasn’t worried about it. If there’s any round, it was going to be okay, it was going to be that first one, just racing more guys and I knew that that that extra tracks, really good tracks for us. So, I feel good about it.”
Adding to the challenge, Briscoe’s rearview camera failed during the race, leaving him vulnerable in the fast-paced environment of Bristol. However, his spotter expertly guided him through the field, keeping the competition at bay.
Entering the final stage, Briscoe was tied with Daniel Suarez and Truex for the final transfer spot. Both Suarez and Truex held the tiebreakers over Briscoe. However, Truex’s pit road speeding penalty dropped him down the running order, securing Briscoe’s advancement.
Briscoe’s seventh and eighth-place stage finishes provided a crucial seven-point cushion over the Playoff cutline. When the checkered flag waved,he held an 11-point advantage over Gibbs, the first driver outside the playoffs. After the reseeding, Briscoe is tied with Alex bowman for 11th on the Playoff Grid, seven points behind Joey Logano.Next up for Briscoe is the Hollywood Casino 400 presented by ESPN Bet at Kansas Speedway. In seven starts at Kansas, his best finish is 13th, achieved in the 2022 Playoff race.
The Hollywood Casino 400 presented by ESPN Bet at Kansas Speedway is scheduled for Sunday, September 29 at 3:00 p.m. ET on USA Network. The race will also be broadcast on both the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, channel 90.

Briscoe Battles Back: An Exclusive Interview
NewsDirectory3.com: Chase, congratulations on securing your playoff spot at Bristol. After the tough start to the round at Atlanta, how reassuring was it to bounce back so strongly?
Chase Briscoe: Honestly, the only real concern I had was right after crashing at Atlanta. Seeing that -21 points deficit was tough. But I took a screenshot, sent it to the team, and just said “doable.” I knew we could make it up.
NewsDirectory3.com: You mentioned being in a similar situation last year at Bristol. Did that experience help you remain calm under pressure?
Chase Briscoe: Definitely. Last year, we were down by a similar margin heading into the Bristol race and managed to claw our way back. Knowing we could do it before helped me stay focused on the task at hand.
NewsDirectory3.com: You mentioned the rearview camera issue. How challenging was that, especially at a track like Bristol?
Chase Briscoe: It was definitely a challenge, no doubt. Having limited visibility in that environment adds another layer of difficulty. Thankfully, my spotter did an incredible job guiding me through the field, keeping me aware of everything around me.
NewsDirectory3.com: Now that you’re in the Round of 12, what are your thoughts as you head to Kansas Speedway?
Chase Briscoe: We’ll need to step it up at Kansas. It hasn’t been our strongest track, but we’ve made progress there. We’re going to keep working hard and see if we can snag a good finish to advance further in the playoffs.
