Chase Burns, the Cincinnati Reds’ highly touted pitching prospect and a key piece for their future, is heading to Triple-A Louisville. The promotion comes after a dominant stint with Double-A Chattanooga.
Burns, ranked as MLB’s No. 11 prospect overall and No. 3 among right-handed pitchers, showcased his potential with the Lookouts. In 42 innings, he recorded a stellar 1.29 ERA and a 0.71 WHIP, striking out 11.79 batters per nine innings. His performance made a Triple-A promotion inevitable.
The Reds selected Burns as the second overall pick in the 2024 draft. He quickly moved through the system, making his professional debut with High-A Dayton. There, he impressed with 20 strikeouts in just 11 2/3 innings before advancing to Chattanooga in late April.
With Chattanooga, Burns continued to shine, displaying even better numbers. His arsenal includes a 70-grade slider and a 65-grade fastball. He recorded seven or more strikeouts in five of his last seven starts, including a career-high 10 strikeouts on May 25.
