The Chattanooga Mocs wrestling team recently faced the 5th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, and the match concluded with a score of 36-6 in favor of Ohio State. The match began at the 125-pound weight class, where Ty Tice faced the 11th-ranked Brendan McCrone. Tice lost by tech fall, yielding the first points to Ohio State.

In the 133-pound match, Blake Boarman competed against the 18th-ranked Nic Bouzakis. Despite a strong effort, Boarman lost by a score of 12-7. The 141-pound matchup featured Isaiah Powe against the second-ranked Jesse Mendez. Powe started well but eventually lost by tech fall with a score of 23-7.

The match continued at 149 pounds, where Bretli Reyna faced Dylan D’Emilio. Reyna was defeated by major decision, adding more points to Ohio State’s lead. The closest match of the night occurred at 157 pounds with Noah Castillo against the 10th-ranked Paddy Gallagher. After a an intense seven-minute match, Gallagher emerged victorious with a takedown in sudden victory.

At 165 pounds, Jackson Hurst wrestled against Sammy Sasso. Hurst put forth a solid effort but fell to Sasso 12-6. The Mocs secured their only victory of the night when Sergio Desiante was awarded a medical forfeit against the 15th-ranked Bryce Hepner.

The night concluded with further losses at 184 pounds, 197 pounds, and 285 pounds. Kye Ruschell, the Mocs head coach, noted that the team showed more fight compared to their previous match and believes they can improve further.

The final score was Ohio State 36, Chattanooga 6.
