Testimony of ‘Daejang-dong trial’ by an employee of Cheonhwa-dongin No. 4 and ID Asset
“ID Asset’s director, Nam-wook, is having a hard time taking him as CEO…Payment to Nam-wook”
ID Asset moved to Seocho-dong office in Cheonhwa-dong No. 4 in March 2020
An employee who worked for ID Asset, a company in charge of real estate implementation and Cheonhwa-dong No. 4, who participated in the development of Daejang-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, said in a court of law, “ID Asset’s director, Mr. Lee, was in a strict relationship with Nam-wook, a shareholder of this company.” testified Attorney Nam, the actual owner of Cheonhwa-dongin No. 4, is currently being tried on charges of breach of trust in the Daejang-dong case.
On the 25th, the 22nd Criminal Settlement Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Judge Lee Jun-cheol) held a trial against 5 people including Yoo Dong-gyu, former head of the planning division of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, Kim Man-bae, a major shareholder of Hwacheon Daeyu Asset Management (Hwacheon Daeyu), Nam Wook, Attorney Nam Wook, Accountant Jeong Young-hak, and Attorney Jeong Min-yong. opened
At the hearing this morning, Mr. Lee, an accountant in Cheonhwa-dong No. 4, appeared as a witness. Before working at Cheonhwa-dong No. 4, Mr. Lee was also in charge of accounting at ID Asset, where Nam-wook was a shareholder.
Prosecutors said, “At the time of the prosecution’s investigation, the witness stated, ‘I know that Lee Mo, the director of ID Asset, serves as a representative of a male lawyer.’ They were in a relationship. Actually, this director had a hard time with lawyer Nam,” he testified.
After that, the newspaper also conducted a process to confirm the facts of the report that the witness had stated in the prosecution. The prosecution asked, “Director Lee reported (relevant to the company’s work) to lawyer Nam and accountant Jung, and at one point, accountant Jung stated that he sold his stake in ID Asset, but is it true?” To this, Mr. Lee said, “That’s right. When I was doing accounting at ID Asset, if I received a general payment, I asked the director, and when I received the payment, the director received the payment from lawyer Nam and proceeded with it.”
Mr. Lee, who had been working at ID Asset since July 2016, also said that he was appointed as the 4th accountant in Cheonhwa-dong from around August 2019. Lee also testified, “When I was doing accounting at Cheonhwa-dong No. 4, I had written a written statement of expenditure resolution. Again, this was done after receiving the (document) review by Director Lee and payment by lawyer Nam.”
According to Lee’s court testimony, ID Asset moved to an office located in Seocho-dong, Seoul where No. 4, Cheonhwa-dong, is located in March 2020. After that, they naturally shared the office of ID Asset and the office of Room 4 in Cheonhwa-dong.
However, Lee said in a newspaper opposed to Nam Wook’s lawyer, “I have never seen Lee personally report to Nam’s lawyer regarding ID assets’ funds.” In response, the prosecution protested to the court, saying, “(The lawyer’s side suggested that it was a report related to ID Asset) several times. However, (the lawyer) kept asking questions because the desired answer did not come out, and this is a judo newspaper.”
