China “5 Chinese killed in US farm shooting … condemns gun violence”

(Beijing = Yonhap News) Reporter Han Jong-koo = Five Chinese people were killed in a shooting that took place on a farm in western California on the 23rd (local time), the Chinese government said.

The Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco said in an article posted on its website on the 26th, “I felt great shock and sadness at the serious shooting incident.”

“We condemn this incident of gun violence, we offer our deepest sympathies to the victims and our sincere condolences to those who have been injured and their families,” the spokesman said.

He added that he is in touch with the appropriate department in the United States and that he understands the truth of the incident.

On the 23rd, shootings occurred at a mushroom farm in Half Moon Bay, a suburb of San Francisco, and at a trucking company about 2 miles (3.2 km) away, killing four and three people, respectively.

The suspect is Zhao Chun-li of Asian descent, and is currently under arrest and under investigation by the police.

On the 21st, two days before the incident, suspect Hugh Cantran (dead) had shot indiscriminately at a dance school in Monterey Park near Los Angeles (LA), killing 11 people, and the Chinese Consul General in Los Angeles said at least one of the Chinese nationals was dead
