The China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (ACFTA) has evolved through several phases. The latest upgrade, Protocol 3.0,builds upon previous agreements to further reduce tariffs, streamline customs procedures, and enhance cooperation in areas like e-commerce,investment,and sustainable development. ASEAN’s official website provides detailed information on the ACFTA and its evolution.
Key improvements under Protocol 3.0 include:
- Reduced Tariffs: Further tariff reductions on a wider range of goods traded between China and ASEAN member states.
- Simplified Customs: Streamlined customs procedures to reduce trade costs and improve efficiency.
- E-commerce Cooperation: Enhanced cooperation in the field of e-commerce, including the development of common standards and regulations.
- Investment Promotion: Measures to promote investment flows between China and ASEAN countries.

Impact on Indonesian SMEs
Indonesian SMEs stand to gain significantly from the ACFTA 3.0 upgrade.
