Lahore: China is standing up against increasing attacks on its citizens in Pakistan. Five Chinese engineers and one Pakistani were killed in a suicide blast near Besham city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday. They were part of a hydroelectric project being built by a Chinese company in Dasu.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the incident and asked Pakistan to immediately arrest the accused. China also said that the Pakistan government should increase the security provided to Chinese projects and citizens.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered a comprehensive joint investigation into the attack. The decision was taken after an emergency meeting attended by Army chief Aseem Munir in Islamabad yesterday.
Earlier, India made it clear to the countries of the world what is the state of mind of China, including when there were initial problems in Sri Lanka. But at that time Pakistan was not ready to believe this or make preparations. China’s approach is to take control of almost everything in the name of helping.

Why Chinese citizens?
Thousands of Chinese nationals are working in Pakistan as part of projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
China has its eye on mineral rich areas of Pakistan like Balochistan province. A lot of investment and various projects are done here.
The people who are economically and socially backward here do not get the benefit of this. Some of them claim that their local resources are being exploited and that they are being oppressed.
There are different terrorist groups against this. It includes the Balochistan Liberation Army. They attack Pakistani officials and Chinese citizens.
