China Commits $50 Billion to Boost African Economy
China has pledged a significant investment of $50 billion to revive African economies and create one million jobs in three years.
China-Africa Summit: A New Era of Cooperation
Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the investment during the China-Africa summit in Beijing, which aims to strengthen exchanges in infrastructure and trade between China and Africa.
Financial Support and Job Creation
Xi Jinping confirmed that China is ready to provide financial support worth 360 billion yuan ($50.7 billion) over the next three years, with half of it in the form of credits. This investment is expected to create at least one million jobs and lift the continent out of unemployment.
Deepening Economic Cooperation
China is ready to deepen cooperation with African countries in industry, agriculture, infrastructure, trade, and investment. This cooperation is expected to boost Africa’s growth and development.
Military Subsidies and Training
In addition to the financial investment, China will provide $141 million in military subsidies and training for 6,000 soldiers and 1,000 police and other law enforcement agents in Africa.
African Leaders’ Response
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa praised China’s commitment to Africa’s development, saying it will be a great boost for the continent. He also acknowledged China’s remarkable development history, especially in poverty eradication, as a great source of experience and expertise.
China-Africa Relations
China-Africa relations are experiencing their “best period in history,” according to Xi Jinping. China is the African continent’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade worth 167.8 billion USD in the first half of the year.
Summit Success
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi declared the summit a “total success,” saying that China and its 53 African strategic partners stand shoulder to shoulder and will play an even greater role in promoting the well-being of the Chinese and African people and safeguarding global peace and stability.
