Chinese Foreign Ministry: Russian President Putin Attends Opening Ceremony of Beijing Olympics

Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics to be held in Beijing, China in February next year.

“President Putin has readily accepted the invitation of President Xi Jinping and is discussing specific measures,” said Zhao Lijian, spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, at a briefing on the 23rd. emphasized.

Meanwhile, the defense chiefs of China and Russia yesterday agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of joint training and patrols between the two armies.

Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe said in a video interview with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on the same day that the two countries had reached an agreement to strengthen cooperation in strategic exercises, joint patrols and other areas to protect key national interests.
