The so-called ‘mountain maiden’, who attracted attention with her story of living as a farmer in a rural village in China, now finds herself in prison.

The reason is that the public has been tricked into thinking that rural life is all scripted. He famously belonged to a one-man media company.

Chinese Media The Paper reported on the 19th that the People’s Court of Jiaojue County, Sichuan Province, China recently sentenced Chinese influencer Wang Hong Langshan Mao to 11 months in prison and a fine of 80,000 yuan (14.85 million won) on charges of false advertising.

Mao has been attracting attention since 2018 when he posted short videos of himself living in a mountain village on social media.

Netizens continued to support him for showing a bright side despite losing his parents in the countryside and working hard as a farmer, living on potatoes. Moreover, her popularity was even higher because of her pretty appearance.

At some point, Mao’s followers began to exceed 2 million, and from then on, he began broadcasting online to help mountainous areas.

His followers increased to 3.86 million. However, suspicions arose that he was actually leading a glamorous lifestyle. Some netizens also revealed that he shops in luxury stores.

Whenever such doubts arose, Mao explained, “I really live in the mountains,” and continued his online broadcast.

However, netizens revealed that his parents are still alive and his family situation is not bad.

As the controversy grew, an investigation was carried out at the local government level, and it was eventually revealed that Mao was an actor as he belonged to a one-man media company.

Tang Mou, who is the CEO of this company, came across a video of Langshan Mao one day and decided that the product had value, so he went to him and, together with other Wang Hongs, made a profit by selling an organized product. The sales of the products they sold were more than 30 million yuan (about 5.57 billion won) and the profit was over 10 million yuan (about 1.86 billion won). It is known that most of the agricultural products sold are of poor quality.

This incident became known around September last year. At the time, Fengmyeon Newspaper reported that the Public Security Bureau of Langshan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, announced that it had arrested a total of 54 people on fraud charges, including 11 people, including Liang Shan Mao, an influencer with 2 to 3 million followers, and the executives of the one-person media company they belonged to.

They were accused of making a fake video and posting it on social media, appealing to emotions to help rural communities in need, selling agricultural products at high prices, and making an unfair profit of 10 million yuan (1.8 billion won) .
