Chinese athletes continue to shine at the 16th World Wushu Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. On November 19, the team secured three additional gold medals in various categories, further solidifying their dominance in the competition.

In the regular competition, Yao Yang emerged victorious in the women’s fencing event, while Liu Xin also claimed the women’s fencing championship. Additionally, Zhang Qingchun showcased remarkable skill and strength to clinch the men’s javelin competition title. In the Sanda competition, several athletes from the Chinese team advanced to the finals, representing the nation’s prowess in martial arts.

Yao Yang, a martial arts prodigy from Shanxi, expressed her gratitude for the support and guidance she received from the Wushu Sports Management Center of the State General Administration of Sports and her coach, following her historic win. Despite her modest demeanor, Yang revealed her excitement after tasting victory and shared her fondness for Texas steak.

As the tournament unfolds, the Chinese team continues to lead the gold medal tally with seven remarkable victories. In the Sanda competition of each kilogram level, 5 male players and 3 female players from the Chinese team advanced to the finals on the 20th.

Yao Yang is from Shanxi and has been practicing martial arts since he was a child. After winning the gold medal, she said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency that this was her first time participating in the World Wushu Championships.
