On social media, the “It Depends” singer posted a message to his Instagram Stories, asking, “Am I the only one concerned about all these kids going missing in virginia? Parents, make sure y’all [are] keeping an eye on y’all children, please.”
while his concern is understandable, it’s important to look at the facts.
The Reality of Missing Children in Virginia
Reports indicate that 88 children were reported missing in Virginia last week. While that number sounds alarming, it’s actually slightly below the state’s weekly average of 98. Wdbj7 also points out that Virginia reports every missing child case to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which can make their numbers appear higher compared to other states. The majority of these cases are classified as endangered runaways, not abductions.
Debunking the Mass Abduction Rumors
Adding to the clarification, the Virginia state Police addressed rumors circulating online about 50 children going missing in just 10 days. They firmly stated,”[We are] not investigating any reports of mass abductions in Virginia, nor is there evidence of mass abductions occurring in Virginia.”
Chris Brown’s History of Speaking Out
This isn’t the first time Chris Brown has used his platform to advocate for causes he believes in. Back in January, he called for sentence reductions for inmates who bravely volunteered to fight the wildfires in Los Angeles. He argued that those who risked their lives deserved to have time knocked off their sentences.
Chris Brown’s Musical Success
Despite the controversies that sometimes surround him, Chris Brown continues to thrive musically. Recently, Tank helped spark the “Residuals” challenge, and the track “Wall To Wall” saw a resurgence on TikTok. Now, his song “It Depends” featuring Bryson Tiller is taking over social media, with B2K, Savannah James, and The OMG Girlz among those participating in the fun.
