Chris Dobey, ranked No. 7 in the world, emerged victorious at the 17th Players Championship of the year, defeating Dirk van Duijvenbode in a nail-biting final. The Englishman sealed the win with a 70 checkout in the deciding leg, securing an 8-7 victory in Leicester.
This triumph marks Dobey’s second Players Championship title this year and his seventh overall on the Pro Tour. While Van Duijvenbode posted a higher average of 102.4 compared to Dobey’s 98.69, Dobey’s precision on the outer ring proved to be the deciding factor in this darts championship role.
Dobey hit 38.1% of his attempts at a double, while his Dutch opponent only managed 29.2%. This accuracy helped propel Dobey to victory in the players championship role.
