The production is being managed by AGBO, a company led by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo. The producing team for the third film includes:

• Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Ari Costa for AGBO

Steven V. Scavelli is serving as the executive producer. According to reports from Deadline, production for the film is scheduled to begin during the summer of 2026.

Franchise Background and Source Material

The Extraction franchise is based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks. The original story is credited to Parks, Joe Russo, and Anthony Russo, with illustrations provided by Fernando Leon Gonzalez.

The first film debuted in 2020, introducing Tyler Rake as a black ops mercenary tasked with rescuing the kidnapped son of a drug lord in Bangladesh. That initial release broke viewership records for Netflix at the time of its debut.

In the second installment, which premiered in 2023, the narrative followed Rake as he was hired to rescue the family of a ruthless gangster from prison. Netflix has not yet revealed the specific plot details or the logline for the third film.

Strategic Expansion of the Universe

The continuation of the series reflects Netflix’s strategy to build out enduring franchises. The partnership between the streamer and AGBO remains a central component of this expansion.

It’s incredibly exciting to continue our partnership with Netflix as we further expand the Extraction universe, and we are grateful for their unwavering support of these films

Angela Russo-Otstot, AGBO chief creative officer

By securing the return of Hemsworth and Elba, Netflix is leveraging established star power to maintain the momentum of the blood-soaked action series as it moves into its third chapter.
