On 14th November 2023, the Rattana Wittayapat Building at Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, was abuzz with activity as the hospital’s Director, Professor Dr. Chanchai Sittiphan, delivered a powerful message at the opening ceremony of World Diabetes Day 2023. Dr. Sittiphan revealed alarming statistics, stating that the number of individuals diagnosed with diabetes continues to soar, with over 3 million cases reported in the past year alone. Additionally, an astounding 300,000 new cases were discovered annually.
The event, appropriately themed “Diabetes: Know the Risks, Make the Change,” was organized by Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, in collaboration with network partners. The primary objective was to provide thorough information about diabetes and facilitate discussions on the use of technology in diabetic patient care.
One of the highlights of the event was the provision of comprehensive health services, including glucose level testing, risk assessments, and personalized nutrition and exercise recommendations for diabetic patients.
