Following the second primaries announced by the People Power Party on the 2nd, three more constituency legislators were eliminated from nomination, but the strong trend of active members, including senior leaders, continued.

Rep. Kim Hee-gon (Dongrae, Busan) lost the primary to former Blue House administrator Seo Ji-young, and Rep. Lim Byeong-heon (Daegu Middle/South) lost to lawyer Do Tae- woo. Rep. Kim Byeong-wook (Gyeongbuk Pohang, South, Ulleung) lost to former Blue House spring and fall director Lee Sang-hwi. As a result, the total number of active constituency members eliminated from the primaries was six. Previously, MPs Lee Ju-hwan (Busan Yeonje), Jeon Bong-min (Busan Suyeong) and Kim Yong-pan (Daegu Dalseobyeong) were eliminated. All six are novices and come from the Yeongnam region.

5-term lawmaker Kim Young-seon moved from the existing constituencies of Changwon and Uichang to Gyeongsangnam-do and announced his candidacy in Gimhae-gap, Gyeongsangnam-do, in the “Nakdong River Belt”, but was cut off (excluded from nomination) . However, to date, 23 (74%) of the party’s 31 senior members with three or more terms in office have been appointed, showing that the incumbents were still strong. Among senior lawmakers elected to three or more terms, Congressman Kim is the only one to have been eliminated from nomination.

The People Power Party canceled the nomination of former lawmaker Kim Hyun-ah, who is under investigation for violating the political fund law in Goyangjeong, Gyeonggi Province, and recommended former lawmaker Kim Yong-tae first (strategic appointment). For Goyang-Gap, Gyeonggi-do, former Vice Minister of Public Administration and Security Han Chang-seop, who had applied for nomination in Sangju and Mungyeong, Gyeongbuk but was disqualified, was the first recommended.

With the ruling and opposition party constituencies determined, Pyeongtaek-eul New District in Gyeonggi Province recommended Political Committee Chairman Yoo Yu-dong, who ran for three terms in Pyeongtaek-eul, as sole candidate. In Pyeongtaek-gap, the proportional representative Han Moo-kyung was appointed. Rep. Lee Yang-soo is running for a third term after receiving nominations from Sokcho, Inje, Goseong and Yangyang in Gangwon province. In Incheon Seogap, lawyer Park Sang-soo, recruited by emergency response committee chairman Han Dong-hoon, was appointed. In Uiseong, Cheongsong, Yeongdeok and Uljin in North Gyeongsang Province, where constituencies have been adjusted through electoral district demarcation, former lawmaker Kim Jae-won and lawmaker Park Hyeong-soo are competing in the primaries. Lim Jong-deuk, former second deputy director of the National Security Bureau, was appointed for Yeongju, Yeongyang and Bonghwa in Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Meanwhile, former Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Park Min-sik, who had given up running for Yeongdeungpo-eul, Seoul, declared his candidacy for Gangseo-eul, Seoul on the 3rd. Former Minister Park said, “I received a request from President Han to fight in Gangseo-eul” and “I will repay you with a sure victory.”
