New Bike Park Feature Unveiled
The City of guelph officially opened the first phase of its planned bike park on friday, August 30, 2024. The fence around the new pump track at Eastview Community Park, located at 800 watson Pkwy. N,has been removed,allowing public access.
According to a city news release, residents are encouraged to use the pump track “respectfully, responsibly and safely, following the facility rules.”
What is a Pump Track?
A pump track is a looped sequence of rollers and banked turns designed to be ridden without pedaling or pushing. The track is suitable for all types of bicycles.
The pump track is conveniently located next to the park’s fenced-in mini soccer fields.
Access and Future Development
The pump track is open from dusk until dawn, weather permitting. Construction of the pump track began in October 2023, following initial concept approval by Guelph City Council in 2017.
While the first phase is now complete, the city has not yet established timelines for future phases of the bike park. A city spokesperson told GuelphToday that future plans include a skills and training track with jump lines and a technical trail.
