Games Workshop has partnered with re-release specialists SNEG to launch the Warhammer Classics initiative, bringing nearly 30 vintage titles from the Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 (40K) franchises to Steam. The announcement on April 13, 2026, marks a significant effort to preserve the digital legacy of the franchise by making these games available to modern audiences on Valve’s storefront.
The initiative includes a total of 28 games, consisting of titles that are debuting on Steam for the first time and others that are returning to the store after being unavailable for several years. According to SNEG, the collection spans multiple genres, including real-time strategy, turn-based tactics, first-person shooters, and digital board games.
Debut Titles on Steam
Seven specific titles are making their first appearance on the Steam platform. These are divided between the Warhammer fantasy range and the sci-fi 40K universe.

- Warhammer Fantasy: The debut includes the 1996 real-time strategy game Warhammer: Shadow of the Horned Rat, its 1998 successor Warhammer: Dark Omen, and Warhammer: Mark of Chaos – Gold Edition.
- Warhammer 40,000: The sci-fi debuts include the turn-based Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate, the first-person shooter Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior, the tabletop-inspired Final Liberation: Warhammer Epic 40,000, and the strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Rites of War.
Returning Classics and Technical Modernization
Alongside the debuts, more than a dozen titles are returning to the Steam storefront. This group includes a wide array of cult favorites and specialized simulations such as Space Hulk (2013), Space Hulk: Ascension, Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon, and Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach.
Other returning titles include Talisman: Horus Heresy, Talisman: Origins, Talisman: Digital Classic Edition (4th Edition), Man O’ War: Corsair – Warhammer Naval Battles, Warhammer Quest, and Warhammer Quest 2: The End Times. The list also features Legacy of Dorn: Herald of Oblivion, Warhammer Underworlds – Shadespire Edition, Chainsaw Warrior, Chainsaw Warrior: Lords of Night, Dark Future: Blood Red States, Space Hulk: Tactics, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition, and Blood Bowl 2: Legendary Edition.
To ensure these older titles remain playable, SNEG has updated each debut and returning title for compatibility with modern operating systems. The goal of these updates is to maintain the original gameplay experience while providing smooth performance on current hardware.
Warhammer has been a cornerstone of PC gaming since the 1990s, spanning genres from real-time strategy and turn-based tactics to fantasy sports, digital board games, and first-person shooters. With Warhammer Classics, these defining chapters of its legacy are brought back for modern audiences

2026 Roadmap and Promotions
To mark the launch of the Warhammer Classics label on April 13, 2026, Games Workshop is hosting a Classics sale on Steam. This event provides discounts on all 19 re-releases mentioned in the initial promotional push, as well as discounts on more recent titles such as Dawn of War – Definitive Edition and Dawn of War 2 – Anniversary Edition.
The re-releases are part of a larger surge of Games Workshop digital content scheduled for 2026. Several new titles are expected to release later in the year, including Mechanicus II, Boltgun II, Total War: Warhammer 40,000, and Warhammer Survivors.
While many of these titles are now available on Steam, some sources note that the majority of the Warhammer Classics catalog was previously available via GOG.
