Reaching Vulnerable Populations
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi recently conducted a proactive health initiative targeting workers in labor housing complexes within Abu Dhabi Industrial City. A specialized team from the hospital’s Neurological Institute visited these locations to educate residents on the critical importance of stroke recognition and rapid response.
The campaign focused on the “BE FAST” mnemonic - Body balance, Eyes, Face, Arm, Speech, and Time – to help individuals quickly identify potential stroke symptoms. Stroke is a life-threatening medical emergency requiring immediate attention.
Community Engagement and Health Screenings
The outreach events engaged over 1,200 people, with approximately 40% receiving comprehensive health examinations. These screenings underscored the significance of early detection and ongoing management of chronic conditions like hypertension and diabetes, both major risk factors for stroke.
