Cobra officer indicted for murder of fitness influencer Johanna G.

The Graz public prosecutor’s office indicted a 31-year-old Cobra tactical police officer on Sept. 24, 2026, for the murder of a 34-year-old fitness influencer from Tillmitsch named Johanna G.

Authorities state that the accused officer used a belt to strangle the victim on Jan. 9, 2026, after the two met. Investigators report that the suspect then transported the body in a car to his residential property before burying it in a wooded area near his parents’ home.

The 34-year-old woman vanished on Jan. 9 following her meeting with the officer. When she failed to return, her mother filed a missing person report the following day.

Police launched a multi-day search operation. Investigators eventually detained the then-30-year-old officer after he contradicted himself and provided false statements during police questioning.

As pressure mounted and evidence accumulated, the suspect admitted to police that the missing woman was dead and that he was involved. He claimed the death was an “accident” and led investigators to the grave in the woods where they recovered the victim’s remains.

Legal Charges and Partial Confession

The formal indictment filed at the Graz Regional Criminal Court charges the police officer with murder and disturbing the peace of the dead.

While the suspect admits to moving and burying the body, he denies the allegation of intentional homicide. Because he had no prior criminal record, a conviction for murder carries a prison sentence ranging from ten to 20 years, or up to life imprisonment.

No trial date has been scheduled yet for the proceedings in Graz.

Suspended Weapon and Equipment Charges

Alongside the murder case, prosecutors opened a separate investigation into the theft of a colleague’s service weapon, the unauthorized possession of firearms, and stolen training materials belonging to the Cobra South tactical unit.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, this secondary investigation has been provisionally suspended under reservation. Officials indicate that authorities may reopen these firearms and theft charges after the conclusion of the murder trial.
