Coca-cola HBC Invests €31 Million in Recycled Plastic Bottling Line

Investment in Lisburn Facility
Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland is investing €31 million in a new recycled plastic bottling line at its Knockmore Hill production facility in Lisburn, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The investment represents the largest single contribution to the site as it opened in 2008.
The company has invested a total of over €77.6 million in the Knockmore Hill facility as 2020. A further €3.5 million was invested in 2024 to build a new warehouse supporting a new canning line for Monster Energy, which launched in October 2023.
Production Capacity and Materials
The new line, expected to be operational by May 2025, will be capable of producing 65,000 500ml bottles and over 36,000 2-liter bottles per hour.Crucially, all bottles produced on the line – excluding labels and caps - will be made from 100% recycled plastic.
Economic Impact and Employment
Coca-Cola HBC employs over 960 people across the island of Ireland, with 550 workers based at the Knockmore Hill site in Lisburn. According to Simon Fitzpatrick, General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland, the investment demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to the region and its future growth.
Fitzpatrick emphasized the company’s role as a major employer and contributor to economic growth, alongside its commitment to community support and environmental stewardship.
