Colin’s Soccer Odyssey: Embracing Challenges and Growth Abroad
Updated May 29, 2025
Colin, whose early life spanned Germany, Norway, and England, felt prepared to pursue his soccer dreams internationally. In August 2019, he joined the Dutch side NAC Breda, marking a notable step in his career.
Leaving Manchester City was not easy, Colin said, but he felt it was a necessary decision. He acknowledged the move would bring culture shock and new challenges, but he believed in his ability to adapt and learn quickly. His time in Holland proved invaluable, as he lived independently, played first-team soccer, and navigated a new language.
Colin emphasized the need to take charge and assert oneself in such environments, learning quickly that winning is paramount. After Holland, he played for Lillestrom in Norway during the 2022 season.
Subsequently, Colin joined Mjallby, a lesser-known Swedish club located “in the middle of nowhere.” He considers this move one of the best decisions of his career, allowing him to focus solely on soccer. This period enabled him to develop as a leader, play consistently, and gain further experience. When Malmo, another Swedish team, showed interest, Colin listened, eager to test his limits.
“That was probably the best decision I’ve made,” said Colin, regarding his time with Mjallby.”It came at the right time in my career as I could just focus on football.”
What’s next
Colin aims to continue pushing himself, seeking new opportunities to grow and excel in his soccer career, building upon the experiences and lessons learned throughout his international journey.
