mediation Efforts and Internal Challenges in Venezuela
Villavicencio revealed that Venezuelan actors are actively seeking mediation with Qatar, suggesting a potential avenue for dialog. However, she also acknowledged a growing sense of “delegitimization” surrounding the current Venezuelan goverment internally.
“Internally, there is a complex situation of certain delegitimization of the current government, but the ideal is that they can reach agreements and that, as a country, they use the democratic route to make an internal transition, without external interference,” she stated.
Regional Security Concerns and Military Presence
Beyond the Venezuelan political crisis, Villavicencio voiced concerns about the increasing military presence in the Caribbean Sea.She warned that this build-up poses a threat to countries in the region, though she did not specify which nations were increasing their military footprint.
