The Colquemayo copper-gold-silver exploration project in Moquegua, Peru, has advanced to a new phase with the submission of its Environmental Impact Declaration (DIA) for review by Peruvian authorities, marking a key step toward initiating diamond drilling operations.
The project, now under the direction of Aurora Copper Perú SAC, is undergoing environmental processing and has reached initial agreements with local communities in Amata and Palcamayo to conduct environmental monitoring and preliminary work, pending final approval of the DIA.
According to project updates, the DIA proposes the establishment of 40 drill platforms and the execution of 59 boreholes, accompanied by the installation of a camp and related infrastructure. The company responded to initial observations in September 2025 to progress the environmental review process.
Informative workshops were held in May 2025 to engage with local communities and address concerns about the project’s scope and potential impacts.
The initial drilling campaign is planned to cover 5,000 meters with an estimated investment of $6 million, expandable to 15,000 meters based on results from the first phase.
