Combs’ Defense Questions Accuser in Sex Trafficking Trial
Updated June 10, 2025
Defense lawyers for Sean Combs, also known as “Diddy,” have begun cross-examining a woman identified as Jane, who claims the music mogul pressured her into drug-fueled sexual encounters with escorts. The defense is attempting to demonstrate that Jane had autonomy during her relationship with Combs, challenging the prosecution’s sex trafficking narrative and focusing on consensual encounters.
Attorney Teny Geragos presented affectionate messages and voice notes exchanged between Jane and Combs. Geragos also questioned Jane about her alleged jealousy regarding Combs’ “polyamorous” lifestyle.Jane acknowledged a preference for “successful” partners who could provide and protect.
Jane testified that she felt “very loved” by Combs at times and referred to him as her ”baby.” The questioning remained largely cordial, with Jane responding calmly and directly. When Geragos asked about Combs’ relationship with their child, Jane questioned its relevance to the case.
Jane previously testified that her relationship with Combs turned violent in June 2024. This occurred while Combs was under federal investigation, following the release of security footage showing him assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Casandra Ventura. Jane, who began her relationship with Combs in early 2021, said she desired a more traditional romance.
She claimed that 90% of their time together involved sex parties, sometimes lasting for days, where Combs allegedly directed her to engage in sexual acts with male escorts while he watched. Jane stated these encounters made her feel “sleazy” and “disgusted.” She testified that Combs paid her rent and continues to fund her legal expenses, leading her to feel obligated to participate in the sex parties for fear of losing her housing.
According to Jane, an argument in June 2024 escalated when she pushed Combs’ head onto a marble countertop and threw candles in a fit of anger.Combs allegedly responded by kicking down doors and putting her in a chokehold. After she fled and returned, she said Combs kicked and punched her, causing a black eye and welts. He then allegedly instructed her to ice her injuries and prepare for a hotel night with an escort, allegedly saying, “You’re not going to ruin my f*cking night.” When she resisted, he allegedly asked in a “forceful” tone, “Then is this coercion?” Jane ultimately complied, feeling detached from her own body.
After Casandra Ventura filed her 2023 civil lawsuit, which triggered a federal investigation into Sean Combs’ sex trafficking, Jane said she “almost fainted.” She stated, “There was a whole other woman feeling the same thing.” Text records read in court revealed Jane messaging Combs, “I feel like I’m reading my own sexual trauma. It makes me sick how three solid pages, word for word,is exactly my experiences and my anguish.”

Jane testified that she met with Combs twice more after the physical altercation in the summer of 2024 before his arrest last September. Combs, 55, faces a potential life sentence if convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking. Jane’s allegations were not part of the original indictment but were added after she received a subpoena to testify before a grand jury in november 2024. She began cooperating with prosecutors in January of this year.
Jane also testified that she informed Combs’ defense team about the summer 2024 fight before speaking with prosecutors, stating she felt “obligated” to meet with them “due to my relationship.” She has not filed a civil suit against Combs and has no plans to do so. Her testimony is expected to continue through Thursday, with the Manhattan federal trial anticipated to last several more weeks.
